Counter-Strike (abbreviated as CS) is a tactical first-person shooter, made on half life engine. It is a very popular multiplayer game played world-wide, online and on lan. Despite being around for years, it still dominates the genere of multiplayer first person shooter. Over the time it has evolved into a series which includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source and the most played Counter-Strike 1.6 (CS 1.6).
There are several tournaments held on CS, also reffered to as clan matches. Clan name is a team name which identifies players of a particular team. A clan is ususally made up of 5 players and a clan match is usually a match between one team of 5 players versus another team of 5 players.
Gameplay:
Counter-Strike put's a team of terrorists against a team of counter-terrorists. Each round is won by either completing the mission objectives or by eleminating the opposite team.
When a player joins the game, he has to choose the team he wants to play for, terrorists or counter-terrorists or he may also be a spectator and watch the game.
There are a total of eight character models, four in each team. A player can choose the character model he wants to play. Each round starts with both teams spawning simultaneously. The player is then required to purchase fire-arms and other equipments (default B) according to his need and get ready to face his enemy.
At round end the surviving players retain their equipments and the dead players buy them again in the new round. Money is awarded for winning a round, loosing a round, killing an enemy etc, to keep the players going.
When a player gets killed, he becomes a spectator till the next round begins. A dead player can switch between teams if there is availability (default M). The scoreboard (default Tab) shows a players kill's, death's, his latency (ping), the bomber and the team score.
